In 1929, aviation was still writing its first chapters.

Nearly a century later, AVIGO returns.

The AVIGO Heritage brings together two eras of American watchmaking, placing a genuine vintage Elgin mechanical movement at the heart of a newly built timepiece.

Preserved. Restored. Given a new life.

Beneath the sapphire exhibition caseback, a movement created generations ago beats once again—connecting the pioneering age of open-cockpit aviation with a new generation of pilots, collectors, and adventurers.

Aircraft change.
Technology changes.
Generations change.

But the pursuit of precision never does.

This isn't simply a watch inspired by history.

It carries history inside it.

AVIGO HERITAGE
Born from an American aviation legacy.
Built for the next generation.

AVIGO Heritage | A Legacy in Motion — American Aviation & Watchmaking Reborn
Born during the golden age of American aviation and watchmaking, AVIGO first appeared in 1929. Nearly a century later, the name is returning.

This short film tells the story of AVIGO — from its early connection to aviation and the remarkable people tied to surviving watches, to the modern effort to preserve that history and build the next generation of AVIGO mechanical watches.

The story reaches far beyond a single watch. Surviving AVIGO pieces, photographs, advertisements, engravings and family records have helped uncover connections to pilots, aviation pioneers and extraordinary moments from an era when America was pushing the boundaries of flight.

Today, AVIGO Watch Company is working to become a steward of that history while creating something new.

Our mission is not simply to reproduce the past. It is to carry its spirit forward — documenting the watches, the people who owned them, the stories they left behind, and the journey of rebuilding AVIGO for a new generation.

From the age of aviation to the age of space, the AVIGO story is still being written.

If you own an AVIGO watch, have an old photograph, advertisement, document, family story or other piece of AVIGO history, we would love to hear from you.

Preserve the history. Follow the return. Become part of the story.

The AVIGO Story | An American Watch Name Returns Nearly 100 Years Later
In March 1930, aviator George R. Hutchinson was photographed receiving a special AVIGO aviation watch just as his flying career was beginning to take on a much larger shape.

Hutchinson was already pushing the limits of early aviation through long-distance flying and aerial-refueling attempts. Soon after receiving the AVIGO, he acquired a Lockheed Sirius and planned to challenge Charles Lindbergh’s transatlantic record. When that dream ended, he turned to an even more remarkable adventure—flying across America with his wife Blanche and their young daughters, Kathryn and Janet Lee.

They became known as The Flying Hutchinsons, one of America’s most famous aviation families. Their journeys took them across the United States and eventually toward the Atlantic, where a 1932 forced landing off Greenland nearly ended in tragedy.

Decades later, one of those young girls, Janet Lee Hutchinson, would carry the family’s aviation legacy forward as a Women Airforce Service Pilot during World War II.

And through it all, one remarkable image remains: George Hutchinson standing beside an airplane in 1930, receiving an AVIGO watch described by the newspaper as a watch “to time the minutes in the sky.”

This is the story of George R. Hutchinson, the Flying Family, and an AVIGO that appeared near the beginning of one extraordinary chapter in American aviation history.

AVIGO isn’t just about bringing back an American watch brand.

It’s about bringing back American manufacturing. 🇺🇸

For generations, America built some of the finest watches, machines, aircraft, tools, and innovations in the world. Somewhere along the way, much of that manufacturing moved overseas.

We believe it’s time to start bringing it home.

AVIGO is building toward a future where more of our watches are engineered, manufactured, assembled, and supported right here in the United States — including the movement beating inside.

This won’t happen overnight.

It starts with one watch.
One movement.
One supplier.
One American job at a time.

We’re not interested in simply putting an American name on an imported product.

We want to help rebuild the capability to make things here again.

This is bigger than AVIGO.

It’s an American movement.

🇺🇸 BUILT FOR WHAT’S NEXT.
